So the police in Hong Kong have been talking big about their brand new “extra strength ” riot control water cannons, which they have suggested may be used on rioters as needed.
After internal tests, yesterday they began demo-ing it at an actual protest scene by trying to remove some fairly timid-looking barricades set up by protesters. Unexpectedly amusing results follow:
Not sure whether to call that a fail.
The trucks are from Mercedes-Benz (looks like an
Actros platform)
, but the water cannon setup is from a French company that I didn’t catch.

I’m not sure how well tied-together those plastic pieces are, but I think people were expecting annihilation.
It’s really a downer on the quality of life, that’s for sure. My mother wants to head back but the airport situation is already a huge headache (queueing up in the torrid outdoor
heat because boarding pass required for entry into the terminal
). Being unable to get around without fear of encountering violence is stressful, and also knowing that the cops are stretched paper-
thin and l
ess able to do their normal work is also worrisome.

Doh. Someone should of checked the accessories package and bought the plough for the front, that’s for moving barricades more efficiently.
